| Description: | Dunster Castle is in Somerset, UK. The 13th century gate house survives, but the Luttrell family who have lived here for 600 years chose Antony Salvin to remodel the building between 1868 and 1872. The swans on the sampler are a depiction of the swan - supporters incorporated in the Luttrell coat of arms. The deer represents the deer park created by the Luttrells below the castle on land reclaimed as the Bristol Channel receded. This is part of the National Trust Cross Stitch Collection |
