Hints and Tips
Useful hints and Tips split in three sections: Before you Start, Work in Progress and On Completion.

Thread Requirements
The amount of thread you will need will depend on the type of stitch you are doing, the size of the canvas in terms of holes per inch (hpi) and the design (i.e. is is a solid block of colour or is the colour spread out). The chart below shows how many sq inches and stitches you can cover with 2 needlefuls of wool about 28" long for the most common stitches used in needlepoint.
NB with some wools you may put several strands in one needleful. The figures below based on stitching a solid block of colour and is the absolute minimum you would require. We would recommend you increase the final amount by 10% for a background and about 30% more for a more spread out design.
